Intro to Clothing Sewing Class, Friday, Sept 12 from 10:00-11:30

Ready to start sewing your own clothes but not sure where to begin? No previous clothing sewing experience needed—just bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to learn!

This is a lecture/demo about beginning to sew clothing. Elayne will talk about patterns, fit, tools (you already have most of them), terminology and the basics of getting started on sewing clothing. As quilters we are used to sewing things that are flat. Obviously, clothing isn't.

It isn't hard to sew clothes, it's just different. And, it's a great way to continue playing with great fabrics and using more features on our sewing machines.

Don't be scared off by old memories of things made in the past. There are new, easier ways to sew garments. We can sew sleeves in flat, really. No, getting that sleeve in the hole and trying to sew it in a circle!

And, we now have automatic button hole feet! It makes the button hole the size of your button - automatically!

We'll even talk about a way to ensure a good fit from the start and a way to have the fit continue to get better with each garment we make. This is going to be fun!
