To Err is Human -- Cindy & Andrea share

To err is human . . .

An English poet (Alexander Pope) originally said, "To err is human . . . " in his 1711 work, An Essay on Criticism, This phrase is now often used to acknowledge the common human tendency to make mistakes.
Enter Cindy and Andrea . . .
I thought the Aloha mystery quilt began on Monday, August 4 so I set aside time that day to cut and sew my first mystery quilt clue pieces. I went to the Mystery Five-0 page and printed Clue 1. It seemed familiar and I thought, “I bet that’s why we did the mini mystery to practice for the big Aloha quilt.” When I got the pieces cut up, it didn’t seem like many pieces for a full-sized quilt, so I sent the picture of what I had to my co-worker Andrea and asked her what was wrong. I also contacted Zig Zag Zora with the same questions.
Both responded that the big Aloha mystery quilt didn’t start until August 6th that the pieces seemed so familiar because I’d just done them in the precursor mini-quilt. Duh!!
A couple days later co-worker Andrea finished up her Clue 1 pieces and posted them on the network. She was scrolling and looking at other completed pieces, feeling badly for first one person who posted because “the pieces were sewn wrong and that person would have to take so many squares apart”. Then she saw another post and thought again, “Oh, no another person has to take so many pieces apart.” By the time she got to the 4th person who she thought had to take their pieces apart, she realized that all those people couldn’t be wrong, that she, in fact, was the one who’d assembled the pieces incorrectly. So she contacted Zig Zag Zora to confirm her fears.
Moral of this blog: I can’t read the right pattern and Andrea can’t read the pattern right. I guess Andrea and I don’t have to worry about Elayne putting us in charge of a mystery quilt any time soon!
