Great Features for applique' & decorative stitching projects
The Brother Quilting machine series are great for decorative stitching! They have the power and throat space you want and need.
Sideways sewing, number and size of stitches
Stitches - The more the merrier when it comes to number of stitches. And, size matters!
Sideways Sewing - Many Brother sewing machines can sew sideways making stitches over 1 1/4" wide for borders, sashing & quilting.
Single stitch - stop lock
Single stitch allows you to set the machine to stitch just one motif at a time. Great for going around curves or "filling in" if you need just a little more quilting.
Stop lock tells the machine to complete the motif it is currently stitching and lock off.
Throat space & machine power
Throat space is the space from the right of the needle to the machine. It can range from 4" to almost 12". It is much easier to turn your projects while stitching with a larger space. At least 6" is desirable.
Power of machine and feed dogs is important to properly form decorative stitches and for the fabrics to follow through the machine evenly.

You can't see the inside!
Be sure to have your machine cleaned to keep it in tip top shape. This machine "looks" clean in the areas you can see. But, as you can see, the inside needs to be cleaned and lubricated to keep it in great shape.
